December 1939 - Huldah

December 1 Friday
I got up and sat in rocking chair all afternoon. Ruth took Ruthie home with her. Ma and Min went to town in morning.

December 2 Saturday
I came downstairs. I bathed baby and worked embroidery on pillow cases.

December 3 Sunday
Charlie up for milk for Ruthie. Ma had a sleep. George up for supper. Tressa, etc, here at night. Rained awful hard.

December 4 Monday
Sent Jeanie's and Helen's letters. Snowed nearly all day. Tessa up. Aubrey and Harvey here twice. Aggie awful good. Ruthie came home.

December 5 Tuesday
Annie Francis washed. I embroidered. Tressa up and worked at Flora's dress. Min and George hauled manure. Nice day.

December 6 Wednesday
I embroidered pillow cases.

December 7 Thursday
I embroidered pillow cases.

December 8 Friday
I got a letter from Helen. Affie F washed. I ironed.

December 9 Saturday
Millen and Aubrey went to camp then came back and went to town.

December 10 Sunday
Millen left for camp about 11:30. Chas and Ruth came up in afternoon.

December 11 Monday
Allie went to school. Tressa up. Snowed all day. Mrs A got letter from Flo.

December 12-13 - Blank

December 14 Thursday
Aubrey killed his bull. We got letter from Flo. I cracked butternuts. Tillie and Burns went back out.

December 15 Friday
Ruth and Chas up all afternoon. Annie F washed. Mrs A dressed Aubrey's 4 chickens. Aubrey and Charlie killed the pig.

December 16 Saturday
Aubrey and Ma went to town. Allie did barn work. I made cookies. Burrell family here at night. I helped Edie appliqué blocks.

December 17 Sunday
Dull day. Rained a little. George B here in afternoon. Ruthie and I had a sleep on the couch. Chas and Ruth here.

December 18 Monday
Cooked and cleaned.

December 19 Tuesday
Annie washed and scrubbed.

December 20 Wednesday
We cooked. I made date squares. Mrs A made doughnuts.

December 21 Thursday
Millen came home sick to his stomach and had chills.

December 22 Friday
Millen layer down all day. He feels worse. Sweat all night after taking aspirin. Pa, Guy and John came home.

December 23 Saturday
Pa, Guy, Ma, Tress, John all went to town. Dr Mac came down and said Millen had pneumonia quite bad. Burns here.

December 24 Sunday
Burns, Tillie and kids came in. Ruth, George B and Aubrey here. Millen about the same. Doctor down. I worked pillow slips.

December 25 Monday
Christmas. We got a lot of lovely presents but Millen is sick. Doctor down again. Edie and Ruth up. Tillie, Burns went to Tressa's.

December 26 Tuesday
Tillie and Burns went back. Jeanie and Ruth up. Doctor came down again. Millen a lot better. Got more presents.

December 27 Wednesday
I ironed and took care of Millen. He is some better. Guy, John, etc, went back.

December 28 Thursday
Dr MacK came again. Ma took sick. Doctor put her to bed. She is sick to her stomach.

December 29 Friday
Ma about the same. Min is too. Annie and Tressa up. Tressa washed. Annie scrubbed. Ruth came and got Ruthie.

December 30 Saturday
Doctor down again and told Ma she could get up. Min is all better but must stay in bed a while.

December 31 Sunday
Ruth and Chas brought Ruthie back. She has a cold. Min and all some better. Pa still home.
