July 1939 - Huldah

July 1 Saturday
Raining still so we all went home in morning. Car stopped a lot. Millen went to Nicholson. I helped scrub and to Tressa's to supper.

July 2 Sunday

I went to Agnes' in morning. To Ruth's to supper and back to camp.

July 3 - Blank

July 4 Tuesday
I washed and made rhubarb pies, etc.

July 5 Wednesday
Aubrey went home at night.

July 6 Thursday
I cooked molasses cookies, cakes, etc.

July 7 Friday
Bruce's birthday. I washed and scrubbed.

July 8 Saturday
I cooked. Joe went to town in morning. Alva went at noon. Boys quit at 2pm it was so hot. We all went home.

July 9 Sunday
Mr and Mrs A took Edie, Tillie, Burns and kids to Andersonville. Left Edie at Lynnfield with Willa. Ruth up. Mr Donaldson's first sermon.

July 10 Monday
Came to camp last night. I cooked beans, cake, etc.

July 11 Tuesday
Aubrey and Alva worked with Millen. They all came home to dinner and will come from now on. I washed.

July 12 Wednesday
Joe and Pete worked for Aubrey. Min went home and to town. Brought Ruth back with him. She went back with Aubrey at night.

July 13 Thursday
Ruthie 13 months old today. She walks a lot. Alva sick all day. Couldn't work.

July 14 Friday
Rained a lot today. Men worked 1/2 day. I washed, made 2 cakes and pies, etc.

July 15 Saturday
Rained so after dinner we all went to town. Ruthie's first glimpse of town. Home and Ruthie to Ruth's all night. Burns, etc, in. St Swithin's Day. (St Swithin's Day is the day where if it rains, it's supposed to rain for 40 days, or if it is sunny and dry, it will be sunny and dry for 40 days.)

July 16 Sunday
Yesterday Ruth's birthday. Burns, etc, went to camp at 8am. Mrs A, Millen and I at Ruth's to dinner. Up home afterwards and back to camp at night.

July 17 Monday
Lovely morning. I made bread, pies, cakes and biscuits.

July 18 Tuesday
Rained a lot off and on all day. I washed but didn't hang out till night, it rained so. Boys worked one hour after supper.

July 19 Wednesday
Min, Joe and Pete finished 11am. After dinner boys, Ruthi, Min and I all went to town and to Anderson's. Left Pete and Joe in. Aubrey went in. Rained.

July 20 Thursday
Intervals of clouds and sun. Mostly sunny, for a change. I made pies, cakes, etc. Miss Joe and Pete. Visitor at night, Bud Hurley.

July 21 Friday
Never rained all day. Nice and sunny for first day since St Swithin's. I washed Aubrey's shirt, etc, and cooked cakes, pies, rhubarb.

July 22 Saturday
Roast for dinner. Lovely day. Fog in morning. I made pies. My last day at camp. Went home at night. Ruth and Chas there. Robin Taylor here.

July 23 Sunday
Aubrey and George B here to supper. Mrs A, Min, Guy, Ruthie and I all went to church at night. Tressa and John and family, Mum and Dad there. Saw new minister.

July 24 Monday
Millen worked at car. He went to town in morning. Went again in afternoon. Took darkies to station.

July 25 Tuesday
Millen and Pa went out to camp and got a load. Guy cut Mar Goodine's hay. Home in afternoon. Tressa and Verna up.

July 26 Wednesday
Hayed a little here and did Fred's. Hauled Fred's in. Emerson and Edie up. George B up.

July 27 Thursday
Guy took Em and Edie to town in morning. Millen raked. Dolly Francis and Roy Patterson wedding. We all went. Shivaree.

July 28 Friday
Millen helped Aubrey, George and Alva finish up peeling. Guy and Pa worked at barn. Y.P.S. at Black's at night. Cows never came in.

July 29 Saturday
Rained this morning. Millen and Pa went to town. Guy and Alva went at night. Joe H up to dinner.

July 30 Sunday
Millen and I went to church in morning. Maud Trim and Tressa and Verna here to dinner. Ruth and Charlie up at night. I have a bad cold.

July 31 Monday
We washed. Got world Uncle Willie Anderson's death. Guy, Min and Ma all went to town. Rained and a thunderstorm at night.
