August 1939 - Huldah

August 1 Tuesday
Tressa, John and Mr and Mrs A all went to Willie's funeral. Verna and Everett up in afternoon. Ruth up. We made 5 pies.

August 2 Wednesday
Cold and windy for August. My cold is better. Fred found a moth. We washed quilts. George and Chas helped hay.

August 3 Thursday
Cool day. My cold is much better. Min and Pa went for cows. Came back at noon. We washed. Hayed all afternoon until 9 pm. I miles 2 cows and went to Tressa's.

August 4 Friday
Dull and cloudy. Ma and Aubrey went to HB's camp. Back for dinner. I ironed. We scrubbed.

August 5 Saturday
Tillie, Burns and family came in for the day. Tillie and Ma went to Tressa's. Guy went to town at night.

August 6 Sunday
Nice day. Pa sick in afternoon. Min and I at Ruth's at night. We had ice cream. Ruthie sick at Ruth's.

August 7 Monday
Guy and George B went to woods at night. Guy took his team. Nearly done haying.

August 8 Tuesday
I woke up sick. Threw up with back door trots all day. Ma sick at night. Sick all through night.

August 9 Wednesday
Mrs A better. Men hayed all day. Min sick at night. Threw up. Guy sick in the night.

August 10 Thursday
We are all better now. Ruthie sick with diarrhea all day.

August 11 Friday
Ruth 14 months old.

August 12-13 - Blank

August 14 Monday
Edie came up all afternoon. No rain. Lovely day. Gardens all drying up. I was sick all night last night.

August 19 Saturday
We got up early. Min, Mrs A, Tressa, baby and I went to Patten. To Flora's to supper, then to the pictures. Stayed all night at Helen's and Thurmie's. (Patten, Maine)

August 20 Sunday
Back to Flora's to dinner. Came home in afternoon. Chas and Ruth stayed. Had a lovely trip.

August 21 Monday
Rained all day. Men worked around home.

August 22 Tuesday
Men threshed at Leo Goodine's. We milked at night. Edie up.

August 23 Wednesday
Men finished at Leo Goodine's. Moved to M Estey's. Gerry's wedding to Helen Britton. Gramma Pincombe here. Ma and Dad went.

August 24 Thursday
Men threshed at Murray Estey's. Jeanie went to Saint John with Laurie and Phil and Gran Pincombe last night.

August 25 Friday
Men threshed at Alfred King's.

August 26 Saturday
Men threshed down the road. Min and I went to town at night. Saw Anna Tupper, Marg Murray.

August 27 Sunday
Millen took Mrs A down to Andersonville. Brought Aunt Alice up. I went down home. Aunt Mary and Jean there. We all went to Davidson Lake.

August 28 Monday
Letter from Helen and card from Jeanie. Eva Goodine's baby born at 8pm and weighed 8 lbs. Men threshed at Alfred King's.

August 29 Tuesday
Men threshed down the road.

August 30 Wednesday
Jeanie came home. Chas and Ruth came home from Patten. Brought Ruthie's sweater. Min and I at Ruth's at night. Men threshed here.

August 31 Thursday
