June 1889 - Sara Jane

June 1 Saturday
Fine. Jim and I at Town evening. 18 lbs butter. Tom here for dinner, Iss R. William finished ploughing big field. Mr P finished planting corn.

June 2 Sunday
Raining. Jean sick.

June 3 Monday
Raining. William ploughing.

June 4 Tuesday
Cloudy and wet. Could not plough. Afternoon cleaned.

June 5 Wednesday
Jim went to town with Mr Allen. Heavy shower afternoon. W making fence. I making Jean's cotton dress.

June 6 Thursday
Still raining. Land very wet.

June 7 Friday
Cloudy. Men building fence. 2 calves came up hill.

June 8 Saturday
Cloudy. Men working up hill. Jim, children and I went home. Found Pa away at town. Jean went to Tom's.

June 9 Sunday
Came home today. It rained all the way. Got tea at Rob's. He drove me home.

June 10 Monday
Mrs Leek here. I coloured wool. Men working up hill. Very warm, sultry.

June 11 Tuesday.
Very warm. Men up hill. All our cows are milking now.

June 12 Wednesday
Fine, warm. Pa came today. Tom here. Brought wool down. Ephraim hoeing potatoes.

June 13 Thursday
Fine all day, shower evening. Miss Brown here. William finished ploughing.

June 14 Friday
Fine, warm. Jim, William up hill working at buckwheat. Pa and Iss at town all day.

June 15 Saturday
Fine, shower evening. Pa, Jim up at Tom's. Thomas Davidson came with horse, colt. Finished sowing buckwheat.

June 16 Sunday
Thomas Davidson, Pa, Ace, M and children, Iss, R here. Tom and I over to Uncle James' for tea. Fine day. Sarah took Tom up the boys.

June 17 Monday
I washed. Pa and I went to Mr Allen's evening.

June 18 Tuesday
Pa went home. Iss took him. Mrs Leek washed boy's wool. Maggie, Allice called. Thomas Davidson bought Mr Jile's horse. Fine and very dry.

June 19 Wednesday
Thomas went to town. Got a horse over the river. Jim sowed turnips for first time.

June 20 Thursday
Thomas came last night after we were in bed. Brought harness. I over to Iss'. Tom went home. Fine, very windy. Lettuce for dinner.

June 21 Friday
Very warm and dry. Jim has sore face, toothache. No one here today, only Ralph.

June 22 Saturday
Raining some today. W Leek killed calf. Jiim at town getting tooth extracted. Iss, R here.

June 23 Sunday
Fine, cool. Jean and I at church. Miss Brown here for dinner.

June 24 Monday
Warm and dry. Mr John and Mrs Murray here for tea. Men at turnips.

June 25 Tuesday
Fine, very warm. All went to school examinations. Last day of school. Jim sowing turnips. Mrs Allen here.

June 26 Wednesday
Still dry. Iss, R here. I churned. Men at work on hill.

June 27 Thursday
Shower this morning. I staid with Iss last night.

June 28 Friday
Fine, very warm. Men hoeing corn.

June 29 Saturday
Very hot and dry. Jim, Jean, Rob at town. William hoeing corn.

June 30 Sunday
Very hot and dry. Jim, children and I up at John Murray's all day. Mrs Allen's mother died this morning.
