October 1939 - Huldah

October 1 Sunday
Rained. Aunt Annie Burrell and Mr Hay came and stayed to dinner. They went to Tressa's and Ruth's then back to supper here. Min and I at Ruth's at night.

October 2 Monday
Guy sent letter to George Burrell. Nice day. Sold some apples. Min and Pa dug Aubrey's potatoes. Chas M up. Annie Francis up.

October 3 Tuesday
Guy got letter from Flora. Lovely day. Min and Aubrey went out to Hanwell to saw and yard. Mr and Mrs A pulled mangles. Tressa up.

October 4 Wednesday
Ruth up. She scrubbed kitchen and pantry. Mr and Mrs A finished pulling mangles. Ruth brought Ruthie's new dresses and my nightie.

October 5 Thursday
Lovely warm day. Guy, Pa and Ma hauled mangles. I washed. Tressa and Verna up in morning. Mary Van Wart married yesterday.

October 6 Friday
Teachers Institute started yesterday. Men finished mangles. Guy got letter from George Burrell. Lovely day. We cooked. I ironed.

October 7 Saturday
Ma and Guy went to town. Tillie and Burns came in and went to town. They stayed all night. Min came in. Rained some.

Oct 8 Sunday
Thanksgiving Sunday. Tillie and Burns went back out about 4pm. Min and I at Ruth's to supper. Jeanie there.

October 9 Monday
Guy at Ruth's. Jeanie went back. Min and Aubrey went out after dinner. Came back in at night.

October 10 Tuesday
Min and Aubrey went out after dinner. I washed. They came back in at night.

October 11 Wednesday
Min and Aubrey went back out but brought Burns and Tillie in at night.

October 12 Thursday
Guy ploughed. Ruth hasn't been up all week.

October 13 Friday
Tressa and Verna up. We cooked and cleaned. I scrubbed kitchen and swept upstairs. Mrs A washed a bit.

October 14 Saturday
Ma and Pa went to town. Burns, Tillie, etc, came in and stayed all night. Millen came home at night. Ruthie has a bad cold.

October 15 Sunday
Min's 24th birthday. Tillie and Burns went back to camp in afternoon. Min, Edie and I went to Ruth's at night. Ruthie's cold no better.

October 16 Monday
Min and Aub went to work. We cooked pies, mince and apple. Tressa up. Ruthie's cold some better.

October 17 Tuesday
Snowed today. Guy and Pa went to town. Min started working for M.G. Kelly driving Burns' team. Annie F. up.

October 18 Wednesday
Murray Kelly stopped and got Min's rubbers and jacket. Billie F and John B here. Harrison brought radio licence. I sent letter to Helen.

October 19 Thursday
Ma washed. Ruth up, also Charlie. Charlie got a deer yesterday. Rained at night. Ruthie's cold some better.

October 20 Friday
Ruth and Chas came up and got Ruthie. She stayed down all night. I darned Millen's socks, starched and ironed. To Tressa's to supper. They all came up.

October 21 Saturday
We made pumpkin, mince and apple pies, scrubbed kitchen and pantry. Chas brought Ruthie home at night. Geo B came up.

October 22 Sunday
Rained all day. Min went back to camp at night. Ruth and Chas here to supper. Cleared off at night.

October 23 Monday
Terrible cold day. I washed and ironed. We cooked. Tressa got a letter from Mrs Perry. She will start tomorrow.

October 24 Tuesday
Awful cold and windy. Guy went to town. Ruthie and I went to Ruth's and I went up home a while. Tillie, Burns, etc, up at Pa's.

October 25 Wednesday
Charlie got a spring's bear cub in his dead fall. Ruthie and I came back home. Tillie and Burns and Pa and Ma went down to Andersonville.

October 26 Thursday
Billy Man pulling turnips. Guy ploughing. I did house work. Our colds much better. Ma and Pa not back yet.

October 27 Friday
Mrs Perry came today at 3pm. Ruth came up. We made 12 blocks on a quilt. Ma and Pa came home at 5pm. Chas up, also John.

October 28 Saturday
Mrs Perry, Mrs Blade, Tressa, Ma, etc, went to town. Millen came in and went to town with Guy at night. Mrs Perry and Edie up.

October 29 Sunday
Mr and Mrs A, John and Tressa went to Patten with Mrs Perry. Ruth and Chas came up to supper. Aub to dinner. Min went back to camp.

October 30 Monday
Ma washed quilts and blankets. Cold day. Mrs Perry, Mrs Blake and Tressa up at night. Rained in the night.

October 31 Tuesday
Rained last night and today. We worked at quilt. Mrs Perry, Tressa, Verna, Mrs Blade, Burns and Min to supper. Min cut his hand.
